Trade Names:  Mozambique, Ovankol, Amazaque, Daniella, Tropical Olive

Origin:  West Coast of Africa

Range:  Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea

Uses:  Furniture, cabinets, flooring, architectural panels and doors. Properties: Golden to a dark brown sometimes having contrasty stripes and occasionally a mottled figure. A very dense heavy wood.

Machining:  Due to a silica content this specie has a blunting effect on tools. The wood saws slowly.

Seasoning:  The timber dries rapidly and reasonably well with only a slight tendency to distort. Extra care is needed for kiln drying in order to avoid collapse.
