Hemlock (Tsuga, heterophylla)

Trade Names:  Hemlock, Pacific Hemlock, Alaskan Pine, Hemlock Spruce

Origin:  West Coast of North America

Range:  Ranging from Alaska to Northern California on the west coast and also sparsely in Idaho and Montana.

Uses:  Pulp, lumber for general construction, musical instruments as sound boards and veneers for the panel and furniture markets.

Properties:  Hemlock is a lightweight straight grain very fine textured wood which is yellowish-tan in color. Splinters easily.

Machining:  Easy to work with all tools.

Seasoning:  Extremely easy to dry.
