Range: North America down the Pacific Coast from Canada to California and Mexico
Uses: Architectural fittings and fixtures as well as furniture, however restricted to North America as a cheap substitute to European Pear.The rare burls of the Madrone tree are highly sought after.
Properties: Reddish-brown wood. Often develops burl which is very much in demand for decorative veneers.
Machining: Woodworking with all machines presents no difficulties because the wood can be easily and cleanly machined.Seasoning: Easy and quick to dry.
