Range: Tropical West Africa

Uses:  Construction timber, paneling, furniture

Properties:  A red brown contrasty wood, moderately hard, very durable, porous with medium bending strength

Machining:  Has moderate blunting effects. Interlocking grain can cause tear-out. Pre-bore for nailing.

Seasoning:  Dries rapidly, but kiln drying must be done slowly in order to avoid checking and twisting.
